Our Environmentally Green Office
An Introduction to Our Environmentally Friendly Office
Walsh, Knippen & Cetina, Chartered., is committed to energy saving initiatives. In the firms office, a large percentage of the furniture, furnishings, and office supplies are environmentally friendly. The firm is also active in the greater community by contributing to various charitable organizations, both environmental and other.
Around the Office
In February 2008, the firm moved from their old office at 601 West Liberty Drive, Wheaton, to a redesigned office at 2150 Manchester Road, Suite 200, Wheaton. The new location has been designed to be as green as possible. When the firm moved, all of the demolition work was done in a way that ensured old office materials could be saved and recycled or reused. The furniture and office equipment in the office are mostly refurbished or recycled. The floors are environmentally friendly, too. The carpets are made from recyclable materials and the wood flooring is all bamboo, a naturally sustainable source. The office is also enhanced by the large exterior windows and interior glass panels and windows. These provide natural light throughout the office and help cut down on electricity use. Visitors to the firm will also notice a variety of natural plants in many of the rooms and offices.
The office supplies used by the firm are also green. Many of the products, such as the printer paper, are post-consumer recycled products. Others, such as the pens used, are designed to be eco-friendly and are made of recyclable materials. The Firm recycles all paper, plastic, glass, aluminum cans, computer equipment and batteries. The staff also uses reusable silverware and glasses for eating and drinking and uses environmentally friendly cleaning supplies, as well.
Community Contributions
The firm has contracted, through Community Energy, to purchase green energy power usage in wind energy for the 2008 year. Green energy power is produced from renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, geothermal energy, and landfill gas. These energy sources have dramatically lower pollution emissions and cause much less environmental damage than fossil fuels.
The Natural Resources Defense Council is one of the nations most effective environmental action groups. Their mission is to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.
