Update on Nationwide Adulterated Food Crisis

A recent study by Consumer Reports found that 12 of 36 tested cinnamon products contained heightened lead levels.  This comes after the Food and Drug Administration (“F.D.A.”) recommended a series of recalls of foods containing ground cinnamon, including WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Purée pouches.  The F.D.A. previously found that WanaBana’s products contained lead levels over 2,000 times higher than recommended safety limits.  Ingesting any amount of lead is dangerous.

The Consumer Reports study is further evidence of the nationwide adulterated food crisis.  Certain manufacturers and distributors negligently or even intentionally adulterate their foods with lead products, such as lead chromate, to increase the products’ longevity and, by extension, increase company profits.

The Consumer Reports study is here.

Walsh, Knippen & Cetina filed the first and, to date, only Illinois lawsuit involving WanaBana.  If you believe your child has consumed these dangerous food items, contact the experienced attorneys at Walsh, Knippen & Cetina for a free consultation.
